Which month

Nothing you type leaves your browser. The times are worked out on this page, and nothing you choose or type is sent anywhere or stored.

This is a calculation. A mosque's own timetable decides its prayer times, and local moon-sighting decides when each month begins. Check a timetable against the mosque's own before you print or share it.

How the times are worked out

The calculation methods. Each method sets how far below the horizon the sun is at Fajr and at Isha: ISNA uses 15° for both, the Muslim World League 18° and 17°, Karachi 18° for both, and Umm al-Qura 18.5° with Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib. This page starts with ISNA, the method of the Islamic Society of North America; choose the one the mosque uses.

Asr. The standard method counts Asr from when a shadow is as long as the thing that casts it, plus its shadow at noon; the Hanafi method, from when it is twice as long.

Far north. Above 48° latitude, which takes in the UK, Ireland and cities such as Vancouver and Calgary, summer nights can stay too light for the Fajr and Isha angles; the maker keeps those times within the one-seventh-of-the-night rule.

Iqamah times. The table gives the time each prayer begins. Iqamah times are each mosque's own; in Ahsan, a mosque sets its method and its iqamah rules once, and its public page and prayer-hall screen follow them every day.

The library. The times are worked out by adhan, an open-source prayer-time library, which runs in this page from this site; nothing is loaded from anywhere else. Its MIT license comes with it.
